The fifth seeing habit is to "Make Sure Others See You".

Can you see how this relates to Visibility, one the 3 Attributes of defensive driving? As you learned, visibility is a two-way street. It is equally important that others see you.

You must assume that not all drivers are as careful as you are. They have not had the benefit of “The Commentary Drive” training, so help them, and yourself by establishing eye contact with other drivers by using:

Utilize your vehicle’s features to help establish eye contact so that you know that other drivers see you. During winter or other inclement weather conditions keep your lights and mirrors free of snow and dirt so you can see and be seen.
