Electrical hazards
commonly found in unsafe offices include:
- Defective or
Improperly Installed Cords. Electrical cords should be examined on a routine
basis for fraying and for exposed wiring: Bare wires can cause shocks. Worn
cords should be replaced.
- Be careful with
connections behind furniture. Files and bookcases may push tightly against
plugs in electrical outlets, severely bending the cord at the plug.
- All multi-plug
power strips must be UL approved. If you need a power strip do not bring
one from home. Contact the IT Department and they will install it in the
proper location.
- Never plug a
multi-plug power strip into another multi-plug power strip. They must be
plugged into an approved receptacle only.
